The laboratories at Carrollton’s Water Treatment and Wastewater Treatment plants recently won the GA Association of Water Professionals’ Laboratory Quality Assurance Award for 2021.
The GAWP QA/QC awards recognize qualifying laboratories in both drinking water and wastewater facilities. Participating labs are inspected by a team of qualified individuals in several categories such as organization, equipment, safety, documentation and quality assurance and control programs. The QA/QC program is an indicator of the accuracy of the procedures that are performed in the lab and a measure of the laboratory analyst’s abilities.
A lab earning a score of 90 – 94.9 percent is eligible for the Silver Award and a facility scoring 95 percent and above is eligible for the Gold Award. Both labs were inspected on September 17, 2021. The drinking water lab earned the Gold Award and the wastewater lab earned the Silver Award.
Wastewater laboratory analyst, Hannah Farmer, has been employed by the City of Carrollton since 2019. She is a state certified wastewater laboratory analyst and Class 3 Wastewater Operator. Farmer was instrumental in developing the current QA/QC manual for the wastewater lab and performs daily required analysis for state reporting.
