Position Information
Description: Under the direction of the Municipal Court Supervisor, this position provides clerical and administrative support for the Police Department as well as the Municipal Court. An employee in this position will handle all walk-in request from the public and will be responsible for performing duties which include data entry, process bonds, process fine payments, reschedule court dates, filing, disseminating police reports, sending, and receiving teletype messages on GCIC and NCIC computer, transfer telephone calls and messages to the department personnel. Some judgement is required in securing enough information to transfer it to the proper person. Work involves substantial contact with the public, often under trying conditions. Assignments generally follow already learned and established procedures so that assistance is required for only unusually difficult or novel assignments. Work is reviewed by the clerks for accuracy of data entry, quality of service and efficient handling of calls. An employee in this position must be available to work any shift to include every other weekend and holiday.

Training and Qualifications: High school diploma or GED (Vocational/technical diploma preferred) with one to two years general office, bookkeeping, data entry (or related) experience required; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this position.

Physical Requirements: Must be physically able to operate a variety of office machines such as a computer, printer, typewriter, copier, fax machine calculator, transcription machine, Dictaphone, two-way radio, and telephone. Must be able to use body members to work, move or carry objects or materials. Must be able to exert up to twenty pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to ten pounds of force frequently. Physical demand requirements are at levels of those for sedentary work. Must be able to lift and/or carry weights of twenty to forty pounds.
