Season’s Greetings Card Contest Application


2023 Submissions are due by September 29.

  • Artwork Delivery: October 27: 11am to 4pm (The winning work will have an earlier delivery date, so cards may be printed in time for the show.) 
  • Exhibition Dates: November 2 – December 14 
  • Exhibition Reception: November 2: 5 pm – 7 pm. 
  • Artwork Pick Up: December 15: 11am to 4 pm 

How it works:
Design your artwork.
Submit your work by completing the application below.
One work will be selected by a judge for a greeting card and the original purchased for the Center for the Arts permanent collection.
All entries will be exhibited at the Center for the Arts during the holiday season.

Design Guidelines:
This contest is free to enter and open to all ages. All mediums are accepted. Only one entry per artist may be submitted.

  • Artists must live in Carroll County.
  • Images must be sent as jpegs and accurately portray artwork.
  • Digitally created artworks must be printed for the exhibit installation.
  • Works must have been created in the last two years and not previously shown at the center. 
  • All artwork must be original works (not created from images, logos or photographs not owned by the artist) and cannot be giclee copies of original work (such as paintings, drawings, etc.). 
  • Artwork must be able to be viewed by all ages. 
  • Words and text are not allowed in the artwork/image. 
  • Art must be $100 or less in value.

Selection Process:
The winning selection will be based on its merit as a two-dimensional card design.

  • The selected piece will be purchased (for up to $100) by the Carrollton Center for the Arts for its permanent collection.
  • The artwork will be turned into a greeting card for the center.
  • The winning artwork will be professionally photographed or scanned. Three-dimensional media would be photographed for use on the card.
  • This excludes digital photographs and illustrations, which can be used in their original format. A print-quality version of the work (at least 300 dpi) will need to be emailed if chosen for the card design.

Images must portray the entered artwork accurately and clearly. Submitted images will be used by the judge to select a winning piece of art.

Terms and Conditions for Display and Sale of Artwork

• The Carrollton Center for the Arts will insure and protect exhibited works against fire, theft, and vandalism from the date and time of receipt until the date the show ends; for the value listed above. Although care is taken to safeguard the work, the Carrollton Center for the Arts is not liable for nicks, dents, scratches, and/or other minor breakage.

• Permission is given to reproduce the artwork for publicity purposes and the printing of holiday cards to be used by the Carrollton Center for the Arts to raise funds for its educational programming.

• Checks and credit card payment for purchase of artwork in the exhibition shall be made out to the City of Carrollton. If the artwork is sold, Carrollton Center for the Arts will retain a 20% commission on all artwork sold. The artist will receive 80% of personal sales. At the close of the exhibition, the City of Carrollton will mail artist(s) that have sold work a check no later than four weeks after the close of the exhibition.
