Message from the Mayor and Council about COVID-19

Dear Citizens,

We hear your concerns regarding the COVID-19 situation in our area. In making decisions that affect our entire community, we have to take into consideration everything and everyone. City officials and City employees are working diligently to make the best decisions for our community. We are in constant contact with Tanner Health System, the Georgia Department of Health, the Regional Board of Health, as well as county and state leaders.

We have been advised that the Declaration of Emergency by Carroll County covers all the municipalities.

We are asking citizens to stay at home, with only the people in your family, and to only get out in public if necessary for essential items. We have closed all public parks and facilities, however, the GreenBelt remains open for use. We encourage exercise, as this helps build up the immune system. As Governor Kemp stated, food can be ordered by take out from restaurants. Many of our local restaurants without a drive-through are offering curbside pick up or delivery options.

This is uncharted territory for us all. We pledge to provide you with the very best information and to inform you as changes to the guidelines occur. We ask that everyone follow the recommended guidelines for the safety of our entire community. Together, we can help reduce the spread of the virus.
May God bless each and every one of you.
Mayor Betty Cason
Councilmembers Jim Watters, Brett Ledbetter, Bob Uglum
