Position Information
Description: Under general supervision, performs mechanical / electrical repair and replacement to traffic signals, camera system and street signs. Responsibilities include maintaining and painting markings on streets and parking lots, serving as a survey crew member, and maintaining an inventory of street signs, traffic signal repair parts, and street and parking lot marking maintenance supplies. Also being on service call. Reports to the Systems/Signal Support Supervisor.
Training and Qualifications: High school diploma (or GED equivalent) with one to two years mechanical / electrical maintenance or any Overhead/Underground utility experience; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this position.
Physical Requirements: Must be physically able to operate a variety of maintenance tools and equipment such as a bucket truck, pick-up truck, boom truck, utility trailer, line painting tractor, air compressor, sealant pump, surveyor’s level, transit, concrete saw, trencher, etc. Must be able to use body members to work, move or carry objects or materials. Must be able to exert up to twenty pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to ten pounds of force frequently. Physical demand requirements are at the levels of those for active work. Must be able to lift and/or carry weight of fifty to seventy pounds.
