Position Information
Description: Under general supervision, performs mechanical repair to City of Carrollton vehicles and equipment. Duties include repairing City vehicles. Work may involve repair work to engines, transmissions, brakes, electrical systems, etc. Also performs repair work on the water system, heavy equipment, and machines, such as the backhoe and bucket trucks. Reports to the Public Works Director.
Training and Qualifications: High school diploma (or GED equivalent) with a minimum of three to five years of experience in all phases of mechanical and/or heavy equipment repair (or related); or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this position.
Physical Requirements: Must be physically able to operate a variety of tools, heavy and light equipment, and machines. Must be able to use body members to work, move or carry objects or materials. Must be able to exert up to forty pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to thirty pounds of force frequently. Physical demand requirements are at the levels of those for active work. Must be able to lift and/or carry a weight of thirty to sixty pounds.
