The Nutcracker

This magical project invites students to step into the enchanting world of The Nutcracker ballet through both painting and sculpture! Students will begin by painting the scene from the ballet of the Snow Forest. They’ll learn about background, middle ground, and foreground while painting iconic characters like Clara, the Mouse King, the Sugar Plum Fairy, and toy soldiers—focusing on storytelling through color and composition.

To bring the story to life even more, each student or group will also create a large cardboard Nutcracker with moveable arms and legs. All materials provided.
